Decline of Belly Dancing in Egypt

I was browsing the videos in the video bar on this blog (look in the right-hand column) and found this interesting news piece on the decline of belly dancing in Egypt.

I think it is sad that there are so few professional Egyptian dancers in Cairo now, and that other countries, such as the US, are leading the way in training and supporting belly dancers. Please watch the video and add your own comments:

I am a belly dancer -tribal, not egyptian - but, this is sad news never the less. I hope they can do something about it. I think Egyptian style is very elegant, and seductive.

Yes, it would appear that belly dancing is almost equated with prostitution in Egypt and even more so in Turkey. It's sad.
