I saw Shakira's video for "Hips Don't Lie" this week - a song she has recorded with Wyclef Jean. The video includes a eclectic mix of dance styles, including Shakira's unique style of belly dancing. I really loved it. Very visual and exciting to watch (and a great song too).

Does anyone happen to know just WHAT is Shakira's belly dance style??? I love it and would love to learn a similar style. Is it Lebanese? pejihophop@hotmail.com
I think it is a real mish-mash of styles that is quite unique to her. I know one of the Bellydance Superstars (Bozenka) has choreographed stuff for Shakira and she has a more classic Middle Eastern style PLUS SHakira's grandmother taught her Lebanese style, PLUS she definitely has some Latin American dance influences in there too
